Angelo Carbone is the Director of Transit & Paratransit Operations for Suffolk Bus Corp (SBC) / Suffolk Transportation Service Inc. (STS) where he manages fixed route and paratransit services and develops and implements strategies for maintaining the highest level of employee performance and customer service. This pivotal role encompasses a wide range of critical responsibilities including ensuring that the most current safety measures are in place; meeting or exceeding compliance requirements; and regularly monitoring vehicles and equipment for safety and efficiency.
Staff development, a key component to the company’s success, is an important facet of Angelo’s position at STS. He oversees the hiring and training of transit and paratransit drivers, develops curriculum and county-mandated training programs, develops and enforces sensitivity training, supervises and oversees the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Drug and Alcohol Program in accordance with US-Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and provides guidance and mentorship to the employees he supervises.
Angelo is the company liaison for the U.S. Department of Transportation, Public Transportation Safety Board, Department of Handicapped Services, TSA Homeland Security, as well as other county, state and federal agencies.
Prior to joining STS, Angelo served as Assistant Director of Criminal Investigations at the New York State Department of Financial Services; Investigator for the New York State Insurance Department Frauds Bureau; and Commanding Officer in the New York City Police Department’s Fraudulent Accident Investigation Squad. He is also a 35-year member and former chief of the East Williston, NY Fire Department.
Angelo holds an Associate’s degree in electrical engineering technology from Nassau Community College and he is currently working towards a degree in mechanical engineering from Stony Brook University. He resides in Smithtown, NY.
