We are a Suffolk County based company with 90% of our services provided within the County borders. Our management and most of our entire workforce live within Suffolk County. As residents and as part of the local business community, Suffolk Transportation plays an active role in various community-based organizations and sponsors numerous charitable organizations. We are very proud of our United Way campaign, which includes company and employee contributions, as well as company matching funds. Our campaign is the fifth largest on Long Island to date and funds several grants: the Parent Child Home Program, the Middle Country Library and Even Start. Several years ago, we expanded our charitable contributions to include providing school supplies through the United Way Stuff-A-Bus program. We also played a key role in an initiative that restored the Junior Varsity sports program to the Central Islip Union Free School District after the program had been cut in a school district budget vote. We are proud of our continued support of various school district scholarship funds. For the past several years, the employees at Suffolk Transportation have held an annual holiday food drive in December where all proceeds are donated to the PB&J Gang at St. Ann's Church in Brentwood and Manna Ministries in East Northport. The food drives have always been huge successes, raising approximately 1,250 pounds of food thanks to the generous donations of bus drivers, mechanics, driver assistants and supervisory staff. We have also participated in funding a local effort in Patchogue to provide home modifications for wounded military veterans. In September 2012, we started a partnership with Island Harvest to assist in the transportation of meals to schools in Brentwood and Central Islip. These meals are pre-packaged and non-perishable, and are distributed to students in need on Fridays to provide meals over the weekend.

Additionally, we offer at no charge, commercial driving license and defensive driving courses to local fire departments and law enforcement personnel. We have participated in and helped coordinate an emergency response orientation program with the Patchogue Fire Department.
