Our school bus division (operating under the names Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc., Suffolk Transportation Corp., Suffolk Transportation Systems, Inc., Suffolk Transit Service, Inc. - all New York Corporations) has been in business for over 70 years as a school bus transportation provider. Our public transit division (operating under the name of Suffolk Bus Corp.) has been in business for over 70 years as well. The Company was purchased by John A. Corrado in 1970. Prior to 1970, Mr. Corrado ran the school bus division of Varsity Transit in Queens, NY, with over 1,000 drivers and vehicles under his supervision. Varsity Transit was a division of Green Bus Lines, a company that Mr. Corrado's father and father-in-law helped establish over 80 years ago. Today Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc. and Suffolk Bus Corp. are owned and run by Mr. Corrado's son John J. Corrado, who has been the President of the Company since 1995 and has essentially grown up in this business. John J. Corrado is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BBA 1986) and he is a Certified Public Accountant. After a career in accounting with Deloitte Haskins and Sells, John J. joined the family business in 1988 as Treasurer. Today, cherished photographs of Joseph Tino, John A. Corrado and Michael Corrado, the three original family bus drivers, hang proudly in the hallway of our corporate office at 10 Moffitt Boulevard in Bay Shore. The Compan's fleet has grown from 35 school buses and 15 transit buses in 1970 to over 1,400 school buses, 80 transit buses and 143 paratransit buses today.

Dispatch Facilities

We currently operate from several state-of-the-art facilities with a total of 50 acres of parking within these yards. Our original garage and corporate headquarters, located one mile south of Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore, is 28,300 square feet and was constructed in 1988. We are proud to share that a 51-kilowatt solar energy system operates at this location, which provides 20% of our electricity. Our second maintenance facility in Ronkonkoma was also opened in 1988, and in 2003 went through a 14,000 square foot expansion project. Again in 2010 the facility underwent an expansion project, adding 6,500 feet of office space. This facility now has 21,500 square feet of office and shop space also equipped with a 51- kilowatt solar energy system, which provides 25% of the total electric needs. This yard is located one mile west of Islip McArthur Airport on Pond Road in Ronkonkoma. Our third yard, also in Ronkonkoma, is a 6,000 square foot dispatch and safety center on 6 acres, which was completed in 2005. The fourth garage (opened in fall of 2006) is located off of Fifth Avenue in Brentwood. It is a 6,000 square foot shop and dispatch facility on 6 acres of property. Our newest yard, on 2nd Avenue in Brentwood, (purchased in the spring 2012) parks approximately 150 vehicles on a 2.75 acre property with 2,500 square feet of office space and an 800 square foot shop. Suffolk Transportation Service agrees with the mandate to bring all vehicles into the yard at night. No large bus or van is ever allowed to park their vehicle at their home overnight. All vehicles are 65-66 student capacity, use diesel fuel, and are outfitted with seatbelts for each student.

In January 2007, we reclaimed the use of 50 Saxon Avenue in Bay Shore, which had previously been leased to a trucking repair company. This added 1.5 acres with an additional 10,000 square foot building. We converted 6,000 square feet of this into a new training center and we intend to utilize the remaining 4,000 square feet as a specialty shop for future expansion. Our combined Saxon locations have 12,500 square feet of office/training/shop building space with 6.2 acres of parking. This gives our Company the newest and largest school bus training facility in the County.

One of our more recent facility acquisitions, 1162 Old Town Road in Coram, is at the intersection of Route 112 and Middle Country Roads. This is a 7-acre site with a 14,400 square foot shop and 5,600 square feet of office space. This building is similar to our facility at 1980 Pond Road — including our third 51-kilowatt solar energy system, an automatic bus washer, outdoor LED lighting, in-ground lifts, modern equipment, and a training facility. It is worth noting that this yard has conduit installed in preparation for charging stations to accommodate electric school buses. Opened in September 2013 this is Long Island's newest bus garage and brings our complete professional service package to the districts and resident in the Town of Brookhaven.

In total, we have 41 maintenance bays with vehicle lifts, three automatic bus washing locations and approximately fifty acres of parking and 133,000 gallons of underground fuel storage. All of our facilities are properly zoned and permitted for the repair and storage of vehicles with the County and the Town. As mentioned above, we have the newest, cleanest and most professional facilities in Suffolk County. Our Company has made a substantial investment in property for the safety of our passengers and employees.
