Our school bus division (operating under the names Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc., Suffolk Transportation Corp., Suffolk Transportation Systems, Inc., Suffolk Transit Service, Inc. - all New York Corporations) has been in business for over 70 years as a school bus transportation provider. Our public transit division (operating under the name of Suffolk Bus Corp.) has been in business for over 70 years as well. The Company was purchased by John A. Corrado in 1970. Prior to 1970, Mr. Corrado ran the school bus division of Varsity Transit in Queens, NY, with over 1,000 drivers and vehicles under his supervision. Varsity Transit was a division of Green Bus Lines, a company that Mr. Corrado's father and father-in-law helped establish over 80 years ago. Today Suffolk Transportation Service, Inc. and Suffolk Bus Corp. are owned and run by Mr. Corrado's son John J. Corrado, who has been the President of the Company since 1995 and has essentially grown up in this business. John J. Corrado is a graduate of the University of Michigan (BBA 1986) and he is a Certified Public Accountant. After a career in accounting with Deloitte Haskins and Sells, John J. joined the family business in 1988 as Treasurer. Today, cherished photographs of Joseph Tino, John A. Corrado and Michael Corrado, the three original family bus drivers, hang proudly in the hallway of our corporate office at 10 Moffitt Boulevard in Bay Shore. The Compan's fleet has grown from 35 school buses and 15 transit buses in 1970 to over 1,400 school buses, 80 transit buses and 143 paratransit buses today.

Communication is an important part of our safety plan. All road supervisors are equipped with cell, iPad™, phones and utilize late-model Company owned vehicles equipped with two-way radios that cover our service area. Road supervisors meet with the safety committee and the top management monthly to discuss timely safety issues, which are then discussed in the weekly Company newsletter. Suffolk Transportation has been built and was developed in a very controlled and strategic manner to withstand the test of time. Approximately 90% of our service is within 15 miles of our three main facilities. This has given us the ability to run a large business under tight and central control. In addition, the size and nature of our business gives us strength and stability since we do not rely heavily on any one contract, yet we have the resources necessary to afford key, independent, high-level staff positions to oversee every function of the business. Our top leadership team, known as "The Executive Committee," consists of 8 highly trained and experienced professionals. Our centralized leadership team is among the smartest and deepest in the industry.
All of our drivers have two-way radio communication, set to one radio frequency that is in constant communication with our dispatch office. All of our office personnel have email. Our customers have access to our email address, corporate phone extensions as well as a direct phone number to our Company. Top managers have cell phones for easy accessibility. Our customers have direct access to the Chief Operating Officer and President of the Company 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with their cell phones and home telephone numbers. These channels of communication help ensure that concerns can be communicated and quickly solved.
